
The Fibros and the Silvertails is Paul Oliver’s account of the feud between two rugby league football teams that turned into a war about class, politics and corruption. The teams are Sydney’s Wests and Manly. The year is 1978.
This is a film about football, family, class and place. It is a social history, a sports history and a political essay, framed within the story of childhood memories revisited and the filmmaker’s suspicions investigated.
Funded by the AFC. Currently in post-production, The Fibros and the Silvertails will screen on ABC TV in 2008.
